Events Director, Remote

City Cast is a rapidly growing daily local podcast and newsletter network that produces hyper-local, engaging, and community-focused content for listeners in 11 cities across the country. Our mission is to connect people to their cities through storytelling, news, and culture. We are seeking an Events Director to join our dynamic team and lead the strategic planning and execution of a large-scale listener/audience event in one of our cities in 2024, as well as oversee and execute revenue-generating sponsor events in other markets.

The Events Director will be a pivotal member of our team, responsible for creating memorable events that strengthen City Cast's connection with our audience and drive revenue through sponsorships and ticket sales. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong track record in event planning, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to build strong partnerships with subcontractors, sponsors, and local communities.

This position is fully remote, however will require some travel occasionally.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Event Planning:

  • Develop a comprehensive event strategy for the large-scale listener/audience event in 2024, aligning it with City Cast's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to set event objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Identify and evaluate potential event venues, suppliers, and partners.

Event Execution:

  • Oversee all aspects of event execution, including logistics, marketing, ticketing, and participant engagement.
  • Ensure a seamless and memorable experience for event attendees, leveraging City Cast's brand and values.

Sponsor Events:

  • Identify and create revenue-generating sponsorship opportunities for events in all City Cast markets.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to secure sponsors and execute successful sponsor events.
  • Manage sponsor relationships to ensure their objectives are met and provide a high return on investment.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a team of local contract event professionals and volunteers to execute events successfully.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Metrics and Reporting:
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of events and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Prepare post-event reports and analysis to identify areas for improvement and growth.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning and management.
  • Experience leading the production of local and/or national events.

The Event Director reports to the Chief Revenue Officer at City Cast. This position is full-time, includes benefits, and is located wherever you want to be in the U.S. The salary range is $110k-$130k depending on experience.
